Clays

Our earth has been providing us with lots of skin benefits. When you think of face masks, clay probably comes to mind. Mud masks contain clay as the main ingredient as it absorbs contaminants and helps rejuvenate your skin. Clay is great that way. Our clays come in a number of colours and different types—all of which have different specialities. Choose the right one for you for different results.

    Country of Origin: Brazil.

This purple coloured clay comes from clay pits in Brazil, where the mineral content gives it this unique purple colour.  This clay is a great way to add an all natural colour to your soap, as well as using it in scrubs, masks and mud packs.  Brazilian clays contain naturally occurring pigments, their colour being achieved by variations in mineral content and oligoelements found in the soil, therefore do not contain any synthetic dyes or pigments.

    To use in Soap:

Cold Processed Soap:  When using clay in Cold Process Soap, we suggest you don't discount your water too much as clay absorbs water.  Suggested usage rate is 1 dessertspoon to 1 tablespoon per kilo of soap (swirling will use less).  Mix into a slurry with either water or thinly traced soap before adding to soap prior to Fragrance or Essential Oils.

Melt & Pour Soap:  1 teaspoon per 500g of Soap.  Mix the clay to a slurry or paste with some water or glycerine and gently stir into the melted soap.
