Thieves Oil for Winter Chills

Thieves Oil for Winter Chills

Thieves oil is an essential oil blend based on a story way back in Medieval times. In the 15th century, when the plague was decimating populations in Europe and Asia, four thieves from Europe were robbing the infectious dead bodies of all their possessions. They somehow never contracted the highly infectious plague. When eventually caught, the magistrate offered them a deal - their secret for a reduced sentence. Taking the deal, they told stories of this herbal blend that seemed effective in killing the airborne bacteria. Wearing the concoction of Clove, Eucalyptus, Cinnamon, Lemon and Rosemary appeared to rid them of the possibility of contracting the deadly sickness. An exciting probability for the time.

We don’t know whether or not the thieves’ story is true, but we do know the oils in the Thieves Synergy blend could possibly help maintain a healthy immune system. Find ways to use this warm and spicy oil in your daily life to harness the benefits of essential oils during the cold and flu season.

Here are our top 4 methods to use Thieves Oil for winter chills:

1. Diffusing

Use Thieves oil with a Diffuser or Burner to freshen the air and create a warm and inviting smell throughout your home. Not only will your house smell amazing, you'll will be helping your family and friends by killing airborne germs.

This is such a wonderful smelling blend, (shhhh) you can keep it close to your chest - wear a Diffuser necklace with a drop or two of Thieves Oil or place on a handkerchief and smell periodically throughout the day to keep colds and flu at bay.

2. Cleaning

Cinnamon, Eucalyptus and Clove oils are a proven antiviral and antibacterial agent. Dilute Thieves oil to 1-3% in warm water (add a little emulsifier such as Natural Solubiliser or Polysorbate to help the oil dissolve into the water) then shake and spray over counters, sinks, bathrooms and floors. This will kill germs all the while smelling wonderful!

3. Cold and Flu

All essential oils need to be diluted to 3% with a carrier oil before applying to skin. Mix a few drops into a tablespoon of carrier oil (Olive, Sweet Almond, or Jojoba work well) and rub on chest. Rub onto sore muscles, too. Smell hands for a powerful respiratory. Add to a roll on bottle for a quick top-up on the go.

4. Fungus Killer

Using this blend stops fungus in its tracks. Apply to fungal infections on nails a few times a day with a clean cotton ball and you should see improvements within a couple of weeks. Keep applying topically for a few days after symptoms clear.

It can also be sprayed onto fungus-prone bathrooms. Make sure to scrub the offending mould away first, then dilute 20 drops in a cup of water, shake well then liberally spray the area and let dry (do not rub off). This will keep mould away and stop regrowth for months.
