Paraffin Beauty Wax is most commonly used on the hands and feet as a treatment or in manicures and pedicures for dry rough skin. Paraffin wax can be used on other parts of the body but you will find this to be the most common method of use. The addition of Rose and Ylang Ylang to this wax assists in soothing and hydrating the skin.

Common Uses:
The wax is heated in a thermostat-controlled pot to melting point, at a temperature suitable for application to bare skin.
After exfoliation of dead skin and the application of a nourishing cream or oil the wax is applied in one of two ways:
- The hands or feet are dipped into the warming pot several times to coat the skin, wrapped in glad wrap or a similar product and then towels or mittens to retain the warmth, OR
- The wax is poured into gloves or a plastic bag for the hands or feet to be immersed in, wrapped in a towel or mittens to retain the warmth (this is the preferred method in salons for hygiene reasons)
The wax sets quite quickly considering the temperature it is applied at.
The benefits of this treatment are:
- The warmth and barrier created by the paraffin around the skin allows for deep penetration of the cream/oil applied prior,
- Softening to hard dry skin
- Soothing in cooler weather, very popular in winter
Interesting Facts:
This was originally used to treat the symptoms of arthritis sufferers. The warmth was reported to help expand the joints allowing the synovial fluids to pass through more freely thus helping to ease the pain.
